Overview

PopularRank is developed by Hertzelle with privacy as a core principle. We don't track you, we don't sell your data, and we don't show ads. Your rankings are yours.

Information We Collect

Local Data: Your ranking lists, comparison choices, and results are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the sharing feature or enable iCloud sync.

iCloud Sync (Pro Feature)

Pro users can enable iCloud sync to keep rankings synchronized across their Apple devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. The data is encrypted by Apple and we have no access to it.

Device Identifiers

We generate a random anonymous identifier stored only on your device to enable the sharing feature. This identifier is not linked to your Apple ID, name, or any other personal information.

Sharing Feature

When you share a ranking with friends, the following data is transmitted to our servers to enable collaboration:

• The ranking list title and items
• Your chosen nickname (you pick this yourself)
• Your ranking results for that specific shared list
• Your anonymous device identifier

This data is stored on our servers located in the United States. We retain shared ranking data to allow participants to view results. You can request deletion of your shared data at any time by contacting us.

Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, your device token is stored on our servers to deliver notifications when friends complete shared rankings. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

AI List Generation

PopularRank uses on-device AI (Apple Intelligence) to generate ranking list suggestions when available. When on-device processing is not available, we use a curated catalog of suggestions. Your prompts are processed locally and are not sent to external servers.

Analytics

We use Apple's built-in App Analytics to understand app performance, crashes, and basic usage patterns. This data is anonymous, aggregated, and managed entirely by Apple according to their privacy policy. We cannot identify individual users from this data.

No Ads, No Third-Party Tracking

PopularRank contains no advertisements and no third-party tracking SDKs. We do not use Facebook SDK, Google Analytics, Firebase, or any other third-party analytics or advertising tools.

Data Deletion

Local data: Delete the app to remove all local data from your device.

iCloud data: Disable iCloud sync in the app, then delete the app. You can also manage iCloud storage in your device's Settings.

Shared ranking data: Contact us at support@popularrank.app to request deletion of any data associated with your shared rankings.

Children's Privacy

PopularRank is rated 4+ and is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or collection of personal details.

Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between the app and our servers. Local data is protected by your device's built-in security features. iCloud data is encrypted by Apple.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
